Village East Gifted

This summer, Portledge Summer Adventures is partnering with Village East Gifted, a program for gifted students, featuring hands-on, virtual curriculum incorporating research, fact-based art projects and creative/instructional writing. All workshops are taught by VEG's gifted educators with over 30 years teaching experience.

Gemology: an in-depth study of the countries of origin, weight and value of precious gems. A hand made artifact is created and valued based on their research findings.

Anatomy/Physiology: the identification and functions of the human anatomy is taught through visualization, storytelling and the creation of student-made, life-size models

Instructor: Ms. Paula Giugliano
Paula Giugliano taught for 18 years in the Half Hollow Hills School District. Additionally, she was an adjunct professor at Nassau Community College. Currently, she is a teacher of the gifted at Village East Gifted working with academically advanced students grades N-7.

Dr. Josephine Potucek taught in the North Bellmore School District from 1986 to 2016 as well as Master’s level courses at Adelphi University. She has been a teacher of the gifted for grades K-6 at Village East Gifted for the past six years.
