Park Ranger!

Have your child journey with us through Coffin Woods, Portledge’s adjacent nature preserve! Each day, campers will be immersed in activities that expand their understanding of Coffin Woods’ ecosystem while teaching valuable wilderness survival tools. We will spend the week collecting and identifying plants, trees, native birds, and animals, then create a field guide to our findings. While hiking along the trails, campers will learn what it takes to create and maintain hiking trails. Participants will learn essential survival techniques such as map reading and using a compass to guide us to the pond at Coffin Woods, where campers get to explore its ecosystem while gathering and collecting data.
