Early Childhood

Early Childhood at Portledge Summer Adventures is a fun and dynamic program for children ages 2-6 years old with lunch and snacks included. Recognizing that each child brings an innate curiosity and sense of wonder to his or her learning, the Early Childhood program builds upon these organic learning processes to encourage collaborative learning. We will continue with weekly themes that will engage your child in Reggio Emilia inspired classroom settings, while also adding new options to your child’s schedule. Each day, your child will engage in indoor and outdoor play, which is the most effective method for promoting growth and learning during early childhood. Daily activities include water play, cooking, art, music, and yoga. Each classroom will be equipped with a sensory bin that builds upon the theme of the week, enabling children to bring in items from
home for others to investigate. And, of course, each week will wrap up with our Special Visitor.

Many children enjoy spending the entire day at Summer Adventures. To meet the needs of these children and their families, we offer ADD-ON programs that meet from 1-3 pm each day to extend your child’s day. This summer we will introduce a new comprehensive Add-On called “Early Childhood Extension” for early childhood students. This Add-On offers a
range of daily and weekly activities for children 3 - 6 years old.

Class assignments are determined by the child’s grade as of September 2020. Enrollment is limited, so remember to register early.
